Renaissance

If I could get you out of mind,
Stop repeating your name in my thought!

I can’t handle the task of this kind –
Can’t resolve to undoing the knot.

Love is never an easy ordeal…
I long so for your fleeting embrace!

I'd abandon my body and will
Rather than have my feelings disgraced:

Ah, my love, but the hour will strike –
I’ll enchant you and take no nay-say

So you could come to me, come alive
Like the arts in the Age of Renaissance!
