Idleness

I enjoy idle mellow days
When the time flows easy and freely,
I enjoy luscious scent of cut lilies,
And my city in its shadowy haze.
I love nights that are dreamy and clean —
When the seagulls are screaming and fretting,
And the skies, like some fisherman’s netting,
Seem to catch all and sundry within.
I love watching a moon-glade in waves
When the Moon shines as bright as a lantern,
From Pacific shores to the Atlantic
Blessing me in my innocent laze.
It feels good to be craving for naught —
Just to hear the waves crashing out,
It feels like a right thing to dress down
While you can all you fancy afford,
Good to not have your life prearranged
But to act on the spur of the moment —
Filled with restlessness, languor or torment,
Walk the seaside and dream for a change…
It’s so good to remain ever young,
With the carefree friends hanging out,
To become a sea nymph — and from now
To share laze with my chosen one.
